It’s really satisfying to see and Improv troupe that know what they’re doing. Parrallelophonograph perform genre based improvisation, and they do it well! They’ve been performing together for six years and it shows. Lots of laughter and none of the basic mistakes that can so easily screw up long form improv.

The final show in our hunting of the Penny Dreadfuls. He has watched all of the Disney straight-to-DVD films ever released and it makes for a good hour of standup. We enjoyed it!

Saw this last night at theSpaces on North Bridge and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It’s a piece of theatre that interweaves monologues about events from the actors lives with physical theatre.

Now that might sound a bit like “art” but it was actually a very enjoyable show that explores family relationships and growing up. Good show!

Saw this last night and had a good time. It’s a selection of comedic characters from 1/3rd of the Penny Dreadfuls, and while we preferred ”Nazi Smasher” (from a different 1/3rd of the Dreadfuls), it’s still a good show worth a look.

This is shock comedy that wont be for everyone but we did enjoy. If you don’t like jokes about domestic violence/rape/etc then this show isn’t for you. Still here? Then read on!

Here’s his blurb-

Internet sensation Devvo comes to Edinburgh. After his latest stint in jail for all of the murders, he’s back. Described by the Sun as ‘The vilest man in Britain.’ Devvo comes to Edinburgh to steal, swear and smash his way through the first week. Devvo is a fucking Donny Soldier, he’s got a gun in his holster. Busses are gay…

He also has videos on his website.

Half price hut (though you heard it here first!)

Previews (all over now alas!)

PBH Free Fringe and Laughing Horse Free Fringe -

Great way of seeing shows without breaking the bank. A lot of good shows are on in the free fringes because they don’t charge the acts for using the venues (and putting on a show at the fringe is not cheap). Will do our best to put the one’s we’ve seen up here!

Theatre Ninjas

A way for companies to get more bums on seats by giving last minute tickets away for free. One for smart phone users.

Edinburgh Book Fringe

Held in Word Power Books, 43 West Nicholson Street, this is a free alternative to the Edinburgh Book Festival.

What’s the fringe without bizarre shows?

Don’t get us wrong, we had a great time at this show, but it is mental.

Probably best described as absurdist humour this show is energetically performed and generates a lot of laughter. What’s more, is that it’s free!

Mental, odd, entertaining and worth watching.

Saw this this evening and had a great time. A one man comedy show in the vein of where eagles dare/guns of navarone/etc from one third of the sketch troupe, The Penny Dreadfuls.

Good fun and no hesitation in recommending it!

Not a cheap show, but worth the money. Slick improvised songs, energetic performances and laughs a plenty as this group improvised a full musical with a live band. All that and we got to see moose sex (it made sense in context… well, more sense).

Great fun!
